Fine then! Theseus doesn’t like you either!

Upon visiting the Hadrian Arch in Athens, we learned what the inscriptions on this almost 2000 year old gate said:
One side reads “This is Athens, the ancient city of Theseus”

The other side reads “This is the city of Hadrian and not of Theseus”.

I’m not sure why I found that so funny. I guess the Hadrian side REALLY wanted to make sure people knew:

“Hey, if you think this is Theseus, you’re wrong! We are totally disassociatng ourselves with that side, so just get those ideas out of your head. Are we cool? Allright. Move along.”

  1. hahahaha — you need a sense of humor more than a map when you travel. 😀
