We had a slight bit of a scorpion problem while renting an apartment in Italy last week. However, I still prefer scorpions to giant Texas tree roaches. Scorpions somehow seem more sophisticated.
Because of my respect for the majestic scorpion, I chose to catch and release the two we found by throwing them out of our third floor window.
It was only later that I remembered there was a restaurant with outdoor seating directly below us.
It’s that time of year again… time to wonder what kind of drugs people in the Victorian age were on when they made Christmas cards. Also time to wonder what their deal is with frogs.
I give you, Victorian Christmas card number one. Frog and Beetle dancing on beach with a dragonfly playing tamborine.
If you can get past a frog and a giant beetle dancing together, much less that they would make a tambourine small enough for a dragonfly to play, I still say the beach scene makes no sense at Christmastime.
This sign was just put up next to our building. Badgers! Yes! I’m keeping a lookout but I haven’t seen any yet. Thought I saw one from my balcony the other day but I didn’t have my glasses on and it turns out it was a small kid with an animal hat.
They keep claiming there are beavers all over too, but I haven’t seen those either. People get attacked by them apparently and I can’t even get a glimpse! Maybe I’ll have better luck with these badgers.
I keep telling my husband we should stop in Canada one year on our summer trip to Texas. He’s reluctant, but maybe THIS will convince him! THE GOPHER MUSEUM
