Big Fun

Back from a week of replenishing Vitamin D in Barcelona!

I have no idea what the “Big Fun Museum” is, but if I lived in Barcelona, I would totally get a job as one of the characters on the street trying to get people to come in.  Big Fun indeed.

It’s MY restaurant, you hear me?

I have got to eat here on my vacation.

No one wants see-through bathrooms

Looking up hotels for Barcelona and starting to remember how it was last time we were there. Both of the hotels we stayed in just had weird frosted glass separating the bathroom from the main room. Who wants this? We had to start leaving the room each time the other one really needed to use the toilet because it was too embarassing.

Looking through hotels today, I see nothing has changed. Took a screenshot of how the bathrooms look in many Barcelona hotels:

Geography

We decided to book a trip for the winter. I asked the kids where they wanted to go. One of my suggestions was Barcelona and the other was Greece. One son said Greece and the other really wanted Barcelona. As he has never mentioned Barcelona, I wondered why he was so adamant about going. When the rest of us voted for Greece, he said, “But I’m tired of Europe. I’d like to see South America.”
Um, Barcelona is in Spain. Spain is in Europe.
“Oh, I thought you meant Brazil. Never mind. Greece then.”

Two things about this:
1. Oh, is a trip to Greece boring to you? Visiting one of the cradles of civilization, eating good food, getting to see sunshine in the middle of winter (remember we live in Sweden) not good enough for you?
2. Wait…. why Brazil?

Barcelona

Just got back from a trip to Barcelona.  Temperature in Barcelona was 20 c and sunny!

Temperature yesterday in Stockholm was -14c!  But hey, it was sunny!  (Ignore crying sounds behind that.)

You really forget what warmth and sun feels like after you’ve been stuck in a freezer for 5 months.  I even smelled a bit of rain when we got off the plane in Spain (yes, rain, plane, Spain).  I realized I hadn’t smelled rain since maybe October.

I still say it’s unhealthy to spend the winter here.  I keep suggesting my plan of mandatory beach vacations to Swedes during the winter, but so far the politicians aren’t listening to me.  Until then, we will just have to plan our own.
