Happy Friday from my cat

I got nothing today. Here’s a photo of my cat just chillin’ on a Friday.

ONLY cats IN bananas

You know, Amazon….

I look for shirts with this cat in a banana because I like the cat IN the banana.  I do NOT want suggestions on cat shirts or banana shirts. Only cats INSIDE bananas.

Work on your algorithm.

Bananya

I just found my new favorite show. And also why my kids don’t eat bananas.

Tank Cat

I just spent the entire morning looking up how to make a cardboard tank for a cat.

I need a real job.

My cat’s feeling a little full of himself.

Italian cat food

It’s always fun to go to the local grocery stores when you’re on vacation in another country. I make sure to bring my camera each time. On the most recent Italian trip, I noticed the names of food in the pet aisle. It’s always interesting to see what other countries use as names for cat food. Here were 2 of my favorites:

Of course, I have yet to find a country to beat the greatest Swedish cat food name of all:

(Side note: Unfortunately, by the time we got a cat, the company became aware and changed its name.)

How secure is this really?

This new version of “I am not a robot” came up on a restaurant’s website. My cat totally clicked that button and now we keep getting fish deliveries.

Thanks, Fake Roomba!

There are a few purchases that have really made our lives easier (lazier) and better, and one of those is our generic-brand Roomba (can’t afford the real one)!

We recently got a cat, which made it necessary to vacuum every day – but now that’s Fake Roomba’s job! It’s really nice to come home to a freshly vacuumed house… that is, when Fake Roomba actually gets to finish his work.

It seems that the cat does not appreciate the hard work that Fake Roomba does to help him keep his place in the house while shedding. Our cat has a favorite toy, a stick with feathers, and he has learned that if he places it in the path of Fake Roomba, it will get caught and turn it off. So if I don’t hide that particular toy, I come home each day to a small, round vacuum that has been choked with feathers.

Of course, Fake Roomba, has also my increased amount of laziness. Instead of cleaning the breadcrumbs off the table in the morning, I’ve started pushing them to the floor thinking, “Fake Roomba can take care of that.”

Ah, technology. Ain’t it great?

Almost charitable, but not quite

What do you want for your birthday, son?

Instead of a gift for me, I want to give it to someone else.

Wow! That’s very charitable of you! Who would you like to give a gift to?

The cat.

Oh… uh… so what do you want to give the cat?

I would like you to order this hat for the cat to wear all day on my birthday.

New pet… this one breathes!

We got a cat this week! The kids are overjoyed. They say it’s a lot more fun than their last pet, Rocky.

What does the fox say? “I WILL EAT YOUR CAT!”

Well, the big news around our neighborhood this week is that we allegedly have some foxes going around EATING PEOPLE’S CATS!

Once again, these are animals that everyone in my neighborhood sees (last year it was badgers) but I never catch a glimpse. We live next to the forest and I walk through there all the time. No foxes, badgers or beavers that I can see. Plenty of deer and rabbits.

Anyway, it’s been fun to read the threads in our neighborhood group. On one side you have the cat people “Protect your cats!” On the other side, you have the bird people, “It’s good that the foxes eat the cats because the cats eat too many birds!”

A few more choice favorites are the guy who posted that “city cats are WEAK! A country cat could take out a fox any day.”

And just for fun, if you hit Google translate on some of these, they get really weird. Here’s a case where a woman is talking about a 3-legged deer in Swedish. Google turns more gruesome:

I called Marshall who came here and shot a “Three-legged” kid in my garden for a couple of years ago. I didn’t know if it was right or wrong

Yet another Google translate mistake (with the name of a street) turned another post into something quite poetic:

“I saw a fox last week at the ancient path. It had a cat in his mouth and went with a firm step against the park in front of the ancient house. He seemed very fearless.”

I will do my best to keep you updated in the “Neighborhood Fox Saga.” I hope it lives up to last year’s “Badgers in our Gardens.”

In the latest Hipster Cat vs. Badger news…

This article was in The Local.

My question (besides why I never get to see these badgers and beavers that apparently walk all over town ) is, how did they know the cat was a hipster?

Does it have very long fur and not bathe? Does it wear a 1940s hat? Is it a vegan?

Cat in the Hat

My husband and kids have wanted to visit Japan for quite a while. Of course they all want to go there because it’s a video game paradise, and it would be a cool place to go, but I’ve never been completely sold on spending that much money and flying so far for a trip.

However, a travel article on CNN today might have changed all of that.

I give you…  Nitama, the new stationmaster of Kishi Station in Wakayama Prefecture. She has been praised for her “hat-wearing” skills.

Checking into tickets now.
